Thank's God It's Weekend

For some teens, weekends maybe the usual going out with friends to the mall, watching movie, and just hanging around. What does my typical weekend like? When my family just opted to stay at home, I keep myself busy by cleaning my room. TV or movie marathon at my parent's room while indulging on snacks. Most of the time especially during Sundays, we hear mass in the morning and scouting for new restaurants for different food experience.

Last Sunday, we had sumptuous lunch in a smokeless grill buffet restaurant.

This was our second time eating in Tong Yang shabu-shabu and grill though the first was from a different branch. For meat lovers, they have various cuts and portions of beef, chicken, and pork which comes in fresh or marinated. For certified seafood lovers like my mom, they have cooked crabs that keeps on disappearing in a minute from the time waiters put it on the table. Fresh choices of shrimp, squid, oysters, clams, scallops, blue marlin, and other fish cuts.

After the stomach filling meal, we had a great do it yourself dessert. One could choose from their chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or mocha ice creams. You could also make your own halo-halo, or healthy wise munch on fresh fruits like watermelon or banana.

Weekend is like being free from the daily grinds as a teen from Monday to Friday. Most importantly Pink Eye Teen loves weekend for one reason, it's bonding time with my family. It's a time where I can learn and experience something new with the persons I love the most.

See how my youngest sister enjoy our bonding last week!

Costly teen, are you?

Piggy savings bank

Do you always hear your parents saying "spend wisely" or this scenario is familiar to you. You're at the mall pointing to your mom you like that expensive pair of shoes. She replied, 'I can't afford those shoes,' then picks another pair saying "this is more practical to buy, less expensive but durable." You will just think, 'There she goes again."

Money talk was taboo in many families, and many parents sheltered children from financial realities. I'm just thankful that I learned it early, the painful way. It started when my mom told me that, if I wanted something to buy I could save the excess from my school allowance because she will prioritize first what's necessary at home. Following her advice and more, I skip eating breaks just to promptly save the amount I need. During those times I am always in high spirits whenever I see my money increase in my wallet.

After two months of saving, I was able to raise the amount I need. In our family weekend bonding, I was able to buy the clothes that I want, gift for a friend's birthday, and treat my younger sister with frozen yogurt. Wow! I couldn't explain the feeling while spending the money I saved in two month's time. That feeling became clearer to me when we got home and found out that the shopping bag for the clothes that I bought was lost. The money that I saved for quite a long time was gone in just a snap!

Studying in a private school, I understand a lot of pressure to keep up and have the name brands to be young fashionista and dress in the latest styles. With my recent experience on the money that I saved, social pressure just isn't as important to me any more. What's more concrete now is I just have to find friends with similar values. And thank you mom for allowing me to commit my money mistakes now, than making me commit greater money mistakes in the future.

Enter the Pink Zone!

May their JOY Embrace U!(Bali Kuta Beach)

Pink is a red and white combination. The quality of energy in pink is determined by how much red is present. White is the potential for fullness, while red helps you to achieve that potential. Pink combines these energies. Candy pink is quintessentially feminine, but swap it out for hot magenta and you’ll make a splash on a night out on the town.

Pink is believed to be the colour of universal love. White and pink are favorite in weddings in the western world. It can be youthful, fun, exciting, sensual and passionate. The softer shades are often associated with romance. Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, self-worth and love, acceptance.

Put some pink in your life when you want:
  • love and romance
  • to neutralize disorder
  • relaxation and calmness
  • acceptance, contentment
Take a look where pink shows up in your own life. Pink is all around us, it's up to you to embrace it. But one thing is sure in my eye, pink is my color signature.
